Shenzhen Trip...

Hi everyone I'm back from Shenzhen and I'm going to write a LONG post on it, so if you don't mind... Because we have taken too many pictures and I really want to show it all to you guys, so I've decided to put up a slide show for each group of event. Yes, I enjoyed myself a hell lots except for the pollutions, dirty streets(due to littering and SPITTING), beggars... Overall I think it was a pretty nice place... The weather was cool, it's like being in a 24 hours air-conditioned place except for the filty air.

On the way....

My Hotel Room....

Day 1, when we alighted from the plane, we were wondering why is the airport so tiny and security guards were EVERYWHERE, they even escort you to the washroom and made sure all the sidegates were locked and the only exits were the main ones. Cool isn't it? BUT don't be deceived, the moment we stepped out of the airport, it was SO DIFFERENT. Illegal cabby drivers clustered around us asking us where we want to go etc... They just won't give up and the worst part is that because it's our virgin trip there, we couldn't find the taxi-stand. It was in a stranded corner of the airport. One of the "fake" cabbie driver then claimed that he would be running on meter so Baby assume that it is one of the normal legal taxi. But we were so wrong, it was a fraud. It wasn't a taxi at all but some old rundown car... He conned us of RMB$400=SG$90 but thank goodness we reached our hotel safe and sound. Initially, he wanted the money before we get off but we insisted NO and demanded that we alighted safely with our luggage first before we handing them the money. So scary.... When we asked the hotel staffs, they said that it only cost RMB$150 to the airport... Those conmen are so horrible.....Yucks. But the hotel that we stayed in was beautiful. It's huge with a living room and bedroom separated. Cool... And it's right smack in the shopping district.

The next day, we went shopping near our hotel. Goodness, in Taiwan there is Xi Men Ding but in Shenzhen there is Dong Men Ding. If you think that China people are outdated and not fashionable then you are so wrong, they are so trendy. Almost everything there is so nice and for a moment I thought I was in Taiwan. The shoes are like DIRT CHEAP... I bought 5 pairs but if I didn't take into considerations that Mummy would scream at me when I get back, I would have gotten more... Haha... About SG$12 for a pair of boots alright... CHEAP!!! Not forgetting, there is a few shopping malls that sell shoes ONLY... Does it make your eyes sparkle? But in contrast to that, apparel are expensive over there. It would be a advantage if you know how to speak cantonese over there... :) Oh and their service is not bad unlike some other places in China(Guangzhou) whereby the service SUCK... One day is definately not enough to shop the whole area because the place is HUGE with hidden little shopping mall all over. Not forgetting to mention that the shopping malls there doesn't close till 11.30 p.m. So cool right, unlike in Singapore, all the malls closes at about 9.30 p.m. But one disadvantage is that in those small shopping malls MANY people would pester you like bugs, asking you to do nails, hair, tattoo... And it is really SUPER IRRITATING because they would follow you wherever you go.

Other then those places at Dong Men Ding, we also went to a few of the upmarket places. Pricing was such a huge difference. We can pay SG$10 for a pair of heels in Dong Men Ding but in the upmarket malls, fat hope... SG$10 is not even enough for you to have tea at Haagen Dazs.

Oh and one more thing is make sure you have sufficient china dollars when you go there BECAUSE you can't sign your credit card over there. They don't accept Mastercard, Visa or American Express, they only accept Unionpay(Some China Bank thing) even in those upmarket places. Felt kind of helpless because everywhere we went, we would be worried that we might not have enough cash to spend the next day. And also make sure you have some Singapore dollars just in case, then maybe you can go to the China bank to exchange for china dollars.

For the last day, we went to the Window of the World. It is a place whereby it has a miniature collection of the world's greatest landmark. It's like going around the world in a day... :) FUN!!! A pity that my camera almost went flat, if not there would be even more pictures...

All in all, I think this is a very interesting experience and I'm looking forward for my next trip up to Shenzhen again.

And before I forget, one disgusting thing I want to share is that I went to a washroom at some cafe and apparently the cubicle was dirty so I didn't want to use it. Guess what did the cleaner do? She went in with a dirty mop that she used to mop the floor previously, mopped the whole cubicle floor and followed by the toilet bowl seat with the same mop... OMG!!!
